I recently accepted a job to work at an F&B restaurant. My job title hardly offered any clues on my job scope and in all insanity i applied for a job i would never have done if not for the advertised salary. But i'll leave that story for later....
Walking In The Shoes of an F&B Worker
I finished my work at 12a.m+ and i'm writting this at 1a.m. I'm too tired to continue so i'll continue this tomorrow. TBC
Summary
- My working hours is 11a.m-11p.m
- I have to work on Sat & Sun. (I naively assumed that she meant a 5 day week as 5weekdays)
- My Job Title: Is Health Ambassador, that's just a fancy title for Salesmen+Waiter+Everything they want you to be.
- F&B workers have crappy perks, 8 days AL, Rm250 Annual Medical Claims, 8days public holidays, etc.
- F&B workers in most places are lowly paid. So please appreciate their work. =)
- People look down on people in the service line alot. Be it a waiter or a pump gas attendant, seriously they are doing a damn fine job and an honest living. I've had so many disdainful glances that i'm horrified by our lack of respect, manners, etiquette by M'sian Chinese! I admit i have not always treated my fellow chinese in the service line with enough respect but it's nothing like being in their shoes. I really put my hats out to you guys who can still serve and service so well even after all of the crap you have recieved, you rock F&B waiters and all other and F&B workers.
- There are very few Christians in the F&B/Retail Line, how can you go to church when you have to work such crazy hours? I think God has placed a burden for these group of people who hardly have enough time for themselves and have no Sundays to go to church.
- F&B Waiters take in a lot of crap, they get scolded for everyone's mistakes including their own. If the cook screws up and delivers food late, you get it. If the toilet is spoilt you get it. If the plates are dirty, food not fresh, ambiance sucky and everything else screwy you get it that's not to mention the mood swings your customer has plus the mistakes you make yourself. Next time you see an F&B worker, give them a big smile and please don't give them hell, they have enough of it daily as it is.
