On A Positive Note~

C Major, one of the most widely used chords in a song. Major Chords by definition tend to sound on a happier tone, wherelse Minor Chords are used to create a sadder tone. Like Happy Birthday you play it with C Major, G7 and i forgot? =p Haven't played the piano in ages....

But if you play it with Minor Chords it'll sound really twisted, so most happy songs are played on major chords and most sad songs on minor chords.

Back to the point, when it comes to illustrations, the half-glass full scenario comes to mind.

The positive guy- This glass is half full.
The negative guy- This glass is half empty!
The businessman- How do i maximise profit by utilising the 50% extra capacity.
Thirsty Guy- Wow a glass of water. Thank God.
The Mum- Who left the glass around without washing it!

We view our world based on the situation and perspective at that present moment, There are times when we look at the glass and say it's half-full, other times half-empty. It depends on our physical state, emotional state & for me my spiritual state.

When a person is able to overcome circumstances that he faces he triumps even in the defeat of the circumstance to achieve victory, what i personally define as losing the battle but winning the war.

I'll give you an example,

Late for work
You're late for work, you're rushing to take the cab and after you've waited for 20minutes the cab arrives. You wave your hands and flag the cab, just as you're about to enter the cab somebody rushes in and enters in, shoots of with the cab.

1st choice of reaction
Flashes of anger boils over, emotions start erupting and you lose your mild and calm composure. By definition it's your fault, you were late, but the guilt of being late turns to anger and now it becomes that persons fault you're late! You go to office and blame somebody else as the reason you're late. Anger subsides to guilt & relief, you reassure yourself that it's that person's fault you're late. You gain sympathy.

2nd choice of reaction
You calm down. You reasoned out it's your fault you're late, if you prepared earlier before hand and woke up earlier you wouldn't be facing this problem in the first place. So you smile at the person who took your cab, assuming he/she will even notice you as they take the cab and thank God for teaching you to be wiser in your preparation & planning. At the office you tell the boss it's your fault you're late, you assure him that you will plan & prepare for work better in future and that you'll minimise such occurences in the future. You end up resoluting to plan and prepare better.

Now a lot of people would smile and say it's easier said than done, they already know, yada-yada bla bla ect.

I know and understand that It takes effort, painful effort to overcome problems, but it takes recognition first to solve it. When man triumphs over circumstance inspite and despite of circumstance it's than where true victory is achieved.

And i've strayed far away from what my intended topic...

I intend to live life looking at the things above rather than the things below and to give thanks to the things i have, rather than the things i've not.

I want to breathe each breath with thanksgiving rather than griping, it's not easy, but i believe, with all my heart, that it's definately achievable.

When you overcome obstables, trials, tribulations, situations, circumstance, despite ups an downs, thrills and disasters, you remain unfazed an unchanged, you overcome life itself and the world around you.

Everything else becomes pleasant, everything else becomes good, you look at the world not through the tinted lens you view it, but through the eyes of love and compassion.

I want to view everything with positive outlook rather than looking back with a heavy heart. I want to look to the future rather than to the past. That is my prayer.

I pray each day,
My heart grows softer,
My love grows bigger,
That my compassion for Your creation,
Engulfs my soul,
That my love for people,
And my love for You,
Will surpass all comprehension,
And i will look to each day,
With a Joy in My Heart,
That can only come from You.
